Better Together’s mission is to reduce the number of kids entering government foster care by providing comprehensive support and services to vulnerable families in need, promoting stability, well-being, and family preservation. Rather than being placed in the foster care system, Better Families works with parents in crisis to provide an alternative solution, tailored to their unique needs. Children are cared for by screened, background checked and trained volunteer host families. This unique approach provides stability during tumultuous times by allowing children to remain in their schools and activities, stay connected with their parents, and ultimately minimizes disruptions in their lives. The program operates on a preventative model, tackling the root causes of child neglect by offering immediate support including the provision of basic needs and a customized path to self-sufficiency. Our Family Care Coordinators work closely with volunteer host families who welcome children ages 0-17 into their homes while Better Together staff simultaneously mentor parents to address critical issues such as finding employment, housing, or seeking treatment. Remarkably, the average stay for a child in our program is only 45 days, a stark contrast to the 596 days averaged in government foster care. Since our inception, we have served over 9,000 children throughout Florida and reunited 96% of the families served, making substantial strides in creating positive, lasting change. Through our unwavering commitment, we aim to create positive, lasting change in the lives of families, breaking the cycle of dependence on government services and fostering self-sufficiency. Better Together respectfully requests $10,000 to help support our Better Families program throughout Central East Florida. This funding will help us strengthen and expand our services to meet the needs of families in crisis. <\/p>\n
