Project Title: Reading Eggs Literacy Program

Young people in Appalachian Ohio face all the challenges any American child faces with the additional hurdles unique to our region. <\/p>\n
Literally every Kindergarten through 6th grade student (180 total) in our school reads below grade level or experiences trouble reading. Therefore, our faculty has targeted the Reading Eggs literacy program to address this deficiency. The software is designed to engage young readers with its bright colors, cute animation and game-like interface. Our faculty believes subscribing to this program will improve our student\u2019s performance and enjoyment of reading. <\/p>\n
In order to benefit from using Reading Eggs, the user requires an appropriate computer interface. While older children can use a desktop or laptop computer, the youngest cannot. For this reason the Chromebook touch screens serve an important function. Kindergarten and 1st grade students do not possess the fine motor skills to manipulate a computer mouse, so instead the Chromebooks will allow them to just touch the screen to answer questions or move an icon to the proper place on the screen. <\/p>\n
The technology will allow for extended learning time while the game-like nature of the software is designed to induce exploration and fun while learning. The extensive electronic library of books especially designed for each reading level will expose the students to many classic stories and different genres of writing that appeal to any child\u2019s specific taste. Therefore, we have included in our initiative 90 Chromebook tablets requiring approximately $23,000. <\/p>\n
We hope you will consider helping us purchase some of the Chromebooks for the 2024-2025 school year.<\/p>\n
