Our mission is to develop and empower Atlanta youth as emerging student leaders who will positively influence their families, schools, communities, and the world. E2L currently serves seven Title 1 schools in City of Atlanta and Fulton and Cobb counties. Graduation rates for these schools are as low as 69.3% compared to the state average of 84.4% and the nation’s almost 87%. The achievement gap translates into a later attainment gap affecting high school graduation, attainment of bachelor’s degrees, and employment. In addition to facing economic obstacles, many of the students in these schools must overcome social and cultural norms that do not embrace academic excellence. A majority of E2L’s students will be the first in their families to pursue post-secondary education, thus breaking the multi-generational cycle of poverty.
E2L’s FIFTEEN leadership and life skills development program is an evidence-based program based on best practices from the National AfterSchool Association that empowers youth to prepare for their future in college and/or career. E2L has researched and developed a model-based curriculum, One Degree Curriculum, that engages and empowers students through activities that foster stability and creativity while providing these youth with the support and resources needed to strengthen and promote self-sufficiency and mental well-being. Through our various program initiatives, FIFTEEN provides direct and integrated services to address the mental and psychological wellbeing, heart and physical health, educational success, financial literacy for individuals and families, and college/career opportunities of each of our youth. The goal of the FIFTEEN program is to support participants in graduating from high school with skills that will lead them to post-secondary education and self-sufficiency through leadership skills and re-engagement with the community.

Total Project Budget: 391619

Other Funding
Sources For The Project (Committed & Potential): E2L’s services are funded through a combination of local funding from foundation and corporations, fundraisers, 100% significant financial giving from Board of Directors.
