Our Early Childhood Education (ECE) program is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children and holds an Excelerate Gold Circle of Quality, which recognizes programs that demonstrate quality in fifteen standards, validated by a state-approved assessor. Gold Circle programs meet or exceed specific quality benchmarks on learning environment, instructional quality, and all program administrative standards; group size and staff\/child ratios; staff qualifications; and professional development. Our robust Nationally Recognized Curriculum of Excellence, Creative Curriculum, is used alongside GOLD, a research-based formative assessment that is aligned to the Illinois early learning state standards, which together support our students in language, literacy, social-emotional skills, and physical development. ECE staff set goals for children to prepare them for academic success in kindergarten and beyond. Our program provides full-day programming year-round for children ages two to five and a home visit program for children from birth to age three. Currently, our program serves 72 children. <\/p>\n
Project LEAP (Literacy Empowerment Access Project), a core ECE program, is a parent-school collaboration that increases equity in children\u2019s early literacy outcomes. Founded by Northwestern University\u2019s Child Language Lab and supported by IMC Charitable Foundation, activities of this project include: expanding the \u201cI Can See Myself\u201d Lending Library\u2019s collection to include age appropriate books in Spanish and English\/Spanish representing Black and Latinx cultures and stories; continuing our Parent Fellowship program to support parents as early literacy ambassadors; hosting Connection Meetings, where teachers and families develop a plan for early literacy; and engaging male role models and parents in their child\u2019s journey to literacy.\n<\/p>\n
