Children battling cancer, blood diseases, or other life-threatening illnesses miss out on the experiences most take for granted. As a result of the disease and its treatment, these children are often immunosuppressed or medically fragile making them especially vulnerable at school, activities, or events with their peers. Some may not interact with peers for years at a time, resulting in stunted social-emotional growth and development. The mission of the founding Camp Hope program is to provide these children with a week that is free of the stress of treatment, a lasting community of others who understand their unique struggles, and resources to cope with their illness and recovery. <\/p>\n
