Active Southern West Virginia’s Kids Run Club program is a transformative initiative aimed at instilling healthy habits and fostering a love for physical activity among children in our community. Operating within elementary schools throughout West Virginia, our program provides children with the necessary tools to succeed and achieve their full potential by instilling essential life skills through weekly club meetings. Led by dedicated teacher and parent volunteers, our free to participate clubs engage children aged 6 to 12, many living in underserved communities, in regular exercise through the joy of running. Through various activities and games, children develop endurance, strength, and agility in a supportive and inclusive environment. Whether running laps on a track, exploring nature trails, or participating in fun relay races, every session is tailored to make exercise enjoyable and rewarding. <\/p>\n
Active SWV provides the framework, coaches training, ongoing support, a $250 mini-grant per club, and pre and post surveys to track youth participation throughout each club. Beyond physical fitness, the Kids Run Club emphasizes goal setting, perseverance, and teamwork. Participants learn valuable life skills as they set and achieve personal milestones, overcome challenges, and support their peers along the way. By fostering a sense of community and camaraderie, we create a supportive network that encourages healthy lifestyles for children and families alike. <\/p>\n
Together, we can inspire a generation of young individuals who are enthusiastic about leading active, healthy lives. By instilling the joy of running and promoting physical fitness from an early age, we lay the foundation for a brighter, healthier future for our community. <\/p>\n
