Project Title: Empowering Youth Through Digital Outreach: Expanding the Elder Wisdom Circle’s Impact

This project is a request for $8,000 to institute digital marketing strategies to reach diverse youth across the United States.<\/p>\n
Elder Wisdom Circle\u2019s mission is to utilize the wisdom of older adults in providing caring advice to other generations, especially young people aged 16-25, who need the support of an adult in addressing significant challenges in their lives. We have been providing advice to younger generations for over 22 years. We have answered over 500,000 requests for advice. We know that families with children are stressed; young people living in poverty are stressed; and teens struggle with anxiety and depression. Our Elders answer advice letters via our website where advice-seekers submit an email about their challenge, and elders respond to them with a free, confidential, personalized response based on their own life experiences. As an all-virtual organization, we receive requests from across the US.<\/p>\n
We know from research on human development that social-emotional wellness is built through positive relationships with important people in our lives. We are social beings who need to be in caring relationships to thrive. When young people receive nonjudgmental and caring advice from a compassionate adult, they can pause, reflect, and use their skills to regulate their emotions, which in turn helps them in family and community relationships.<\/p>\n
The demand for our work continues to stay at a high level but we know we are not reaching all the young people who can benefit. EWC wants to be the free \u201cgo-to\u201d provider of free, caring, nonjudgmental advice, educating and supporting young advice-seekers in meeting their non-acute mental health needs and flourishing in their lives. This grant request would support increased organizational capacity to create and distribute our brand mechanisms that would allow EWC to expand its work to reach more young people.\n<\/p>\n
