\nProject Description:<\/p>\n
The number of youth in foster care exceeds the number of homes available to care and house, leaving many youth in congregate care where their basic needs are met. Still, they aren’t receiving the same one-on-one attention their peers in family settings receive. <\/p>\n
AASK’s mentoring program matches these youth with a volunteer mentor, allowing them to explore hobbies and interests, improve academic performance, prepare for adulthood, and gain confidence. <\/p>\n
Youth with a mentor reduce their risk for drug and alcohol addiction, are more likely to graduate high school, and reduce their risk of incarceration and unstable housing and employment. <\/p>\n
