Project Title: A Living Song: 50 Years With the MCC
\nProject Description:<\/p>\n
MCC respectfully requests funding from the Hermanowski Foundation for general support for its 50th anniversary season. <\/p>\n
Established in 1965, MCC continues to transform the lives of South Florida youth, developing their musical and non-musical skills, and garnering them the praise of music professionals and audiences around the globe. Using choral music as the medium, children participating in the MCC develop the knowledge and skills necessary to be proficient practicing artists and responsible individuals. <\/p>\n
The organization offers three advancing levels of participation, a scholarship program for youth who otherwise would not be able to participate in the ensemble, and a free community choral outreach project that brings MCC training to low-income and underserved communities. Additionally, MCC presents free and ticketed concerts, youth singing workshops, free music teacher development workshops, and free community sing-alongs. <\/p>\n
While centered on performance, programs also foster life edifying skills, cultural awareness, social responsibility, and encourage youth to collaborate, believe, and achieve. MCC\u2019s approach focuses on developing the skills of creativity, focused-discipline, critical thinking, problem solving, collaboration and respectful communication. Each child comes to the MCC from different backgrounds and with varying skill sets, but it is here where they learn that there is no greater reward than that of giving their personal best, and this approach promotes an excellence that radiates onto all part of their lives. <\/p>\n
MCC has prepared children to appear and record with artists in a wide variety of musical settings, the likes of; the Cleveland Orchestra, at Super Bowl with Queen Latifah, Andr\u00e9 Rieu, Gloria Estefan, Jon Secada, Raul Di Blasio, Florida Grand Opera, the former Florida Philharmonic Orchestra, Master Chorale of South Florida, and Festival Miami. As cultural ambassadors, MCC has performed in Argentina, Brazil, Italy, South Africa, Great Britain, Austria and the Czech Republic, in addition to appearances throughout the US. <\/p>\n
