Junior Achievement’s mission is to inspire young people to own their future success. We envision a world where young people have the skill set and mindset to build thriving communities. We bring a different approach to education that uses innovation and contextual learning in partnership with educators, employers, and the community at large. In the end our promise is to provide learning experiences that help young people reach their potential. In other words, our name is our promise.<\/p>\n
Through engaging, experiential lessons and volunteer interactions, JA programs help students see the relevance of what they are learning in the classroom and its application to the real world, acquire or enhance the skills they need to be successful in the workforce or postsecondary institutions, and recognize the value of an education. This knowledge helps students learn to manage their finances, understand basic economic concepts, explore careers, and develop in-demand job skills. Consequently, as adults, they will be more prepared to enter the workforce, make informed financial decisions, and contribute to the success of their local economy. <\/p>\n
JA programs are offered at no cost to schools. Programs include: JA Fundamentals (PreK- grade 5) volunteer-led, age-appropriate classroom lessons on personal finance, civics, careers, and economics. JA Biztown (grades 5-6) combines classroom learning with a day-long visit to our BizTown facility where students assume the roles of workers and consumers in a simulated town. YES! (Your Economic Success!) (grades 6-8) career exploration and lessons on financial responsibility. STEM Summit (grades 9-10) offers a variety of hands-on STEM activities and exploration of STEM related careers. REAL Life (grades 11-12) students learn how to build a real-world budget and get tips on resume building and interview skills. JA Inspire (grades 7-12) a virtual career fair to help students identify career clusters and connect with post-secondary opportunities.\n<\/p>\n
