Girl Talk Today is a mentorship program designed for low-income girls and young women, ranging in age from 5 to 18 years old, who reside in five different counties. We aim to equip them with essential life skills, nurture their potential, and support their personal growth. Referrals for our program come from educators, community programs, and parental inquiries.
\nOur mentorship program is divided into age-specific modules and a GED module. Each module has its curriculum that is specific to the age group and program type. Our curriculum covers a wide range of areas, including reading comprehension, financial literacy, STEM, STEAM, soft skills, conflict resolution, goal setting, confidence building, professional and personal etiquette development, mental, emotional, and physical health, higher education, career path development, and community service.
\nOur early childhood, pre-teen, and teen modules meet once a week for 10 months, amounting to 80 hours of class time per level. In addition to regular class time, the pre-teen and teen modules participate in workforce development, which includes up to 20 additional hours of job shadowing. Our GED module meets three times a week, resulting in 96 hours of tutoring. The GED program’s duration varies between 8-16 weeks, depending on the student. Our trained mentors meet with their mentees for a minimum of one hour once a week.<\/p>\n
Women Inspiring Women uses a variety of data tracking tools, such as regular assessments, academic progress tracking, pre and post-tests, and surveys to evaluate the performance of our group leaders, mentors, tutors, and students.\n<\/p>\n
