Project Title: ArtsQuest\u2019s Free Education & Outreach Programs
\nProject Description:<\/p>\n
Grant funds are requested for supplies for ArtsQuest\u2019s free artistic, entrepreneurial, and leadership programs for local low-to-middle income students. Programs are designed for underserved youth who may not be traditional learners, offering a unique experience to achieve. Through exposure to the arts, students develop artistic skills, experiment with various media, and discover new interests and possible careers.<\/p>\n
Since 2004 ArtsQuest has offered the ArtSmart art enrichment program free of charge to over 500 elementary and middle school students each year. Students are challenged to excel through comprehensive, in-depth instruction in a wide range of disciplines including painting, mosaics, fiber arts, ceramics, printmaking, public art, improv comedy, digital illustration and more. <\/p>\n
In 2021 ArtsQuest launched the free Teen Takeover afterschool program to give local middle and high school students the opportunity to book a dynamic multi-disciplinary event held at ArtsQuest\u2019s Banana Factory Arts Center. Students research and curate an event that includes energetic programming in dance, visual arts, performance art, media arts, spoken word, and more. <\/p>\n
ArtsQuest has offered the free Marketing Musikfest class since 2015 where students in grades 9-12 learn real life marketing skills from ArtsQuest\u2019s staff. As part of this credited business course, students explore careers in the music industry, production requirements, development of business and marketing plans, contract negotiation, and funding.<\/p>\n
In 2024 ArtsQuest will launch a new program to support local high school students interested in careers in film and cinema programming. The free Cinema Programming will be held in March 2024, with the goal of expanding the program throughout the year.<\/p>\n
Approximately 56% of ArtsQuest\u2019s 4,350 programs and events are free to attend, though students are never denied the opportunity to participate in programming due to financial hardship. In 2023 ArtsQuest awarded nearly $29,000 in scholarships impacting over 250 underserved individuals.\n<\/p>\n
