To help provide positive creative outlets where no child is turned away, BGCV is asking for support of $15,000 to expand learning opportunities by providing free music lessons and recording opportunities. Forte for Children, a foundation funded by Directed Electronics that has funded our music program since 2008 is ending. Our music program is popular and provides many kids with their first consistent foray into exploring new forms of music. Music boosts social and emotional skills as well as helping kids academically by interweaving math and language skills along the way. BGCV offers guitar, piano, drums and vocal lessons 5 days a week in a recording studio. Lessons are split into tiers depending on music experience to strengthen their musical skills. This program provides Club members with the discipline to learn to play an instrument, record and mix music in a safe, positive setting open throughout the year. Club members engage in group activities, private lessons, and practice and \u201cjam\u201d sessions. Upon successful progress, Club members will learn how to set up and record in the studio. They will also be able to hypothesize and study the various effects in terms of various equipment positioning, cables, effects, etc. <\/p>\n
