Our "Art for All" initiative allows our organization to support underserved\/transient youth in Charlotte. On several occasions, we plan to provide Charlotte’s underserved\/transient youth with arts education starter kits in an effort to spark or revive creativity. The starter kits provide hands-on experiences for youth to express themselves in ways they have not been able to in a long time, if ever. The ultimate hope is for youth to find, or hone, their craft during a time when more creativity is needed in the world. The funds will be used to create arts education kits for youth and to facilitate arts expression workshops. These workshops combine art activities with social emotional learning, providing an avenue for marginalized youth to express themselves in productive ways. A vast majority of the funds will specifically be dedicated to purchasing items to go into the kits. Items include, but are not limited to writing notebooks, writing utensils, enrichment books, sketch pads, paint, canvas, paint brushes, etc. Youth will have the opportunity to choose which kits inspire them. In conjunction with the distribution of kits, youth will have the opportunity to participate in mini arts expressions workshops in which they will utilize their kits and explore their art of choice using other resources. Following these workshops, there will be time for youth to build community through art, discussion and sharing a meal.<\/p>\n
