The I Am Academy aims to provide a multifaceted approach to empower at-risk youth, promote personal growth, and strengthen community bonds with local organizations, including law enforcement. At Truly Valued, we believe in fostering collaboration between law enforcement and the community to create a safer and more inclusive environment for everyone. Our approach involves the following key elements:<\/p>\n
\u2022\tCommunity Engagement: We actively involve community members, including parents, teachers, local businesses, and law enforcement, in the planning and execution of the program. Their input and support are vital to building a strong foundation for positive change.
\n\u2022\tTrauma-Informed Care: Recognizing that some of the at-risk youth may have experienced trauma, our program is carefully designed with a trauma-informed approach to provide a safe and supportive space for healing and growth.
\n\u2022\tData-Driven Evaluation: Understanding that our program\u2019s goal is to produce real-world results for our participants, we regularly assess and evaluate the program’s impact through data collection and feedback mechanisms. This data-driven approach actively enables us to make evidence-based adjustments and improvements to maximize the program’s effectiveness.<\/p>\n
To ensure the effectiveness of the program, Truly Valued conducts ongoing evaluations, both qualitative and quantitative, to measure participants’ progress, assess the impact of the curricula, and identify areas for improvement. The measure of success for I Am Academy participants lies in observing positive behavior changes in at least two of the four pillars: building character, confidence, education opportunities, and self-esteem and awareness, with a target goal of 80% of participants demonstrating such growth. As of February 2024, student behavior referrals have decreased 40% compared to the first semester, this is attributed to students making positive choices and exhibiting leadership qualities.\n<\/p>\n
