Our Creative Kinship-Care Program will build upon the success of our existing Kinship\/Grandfamilies program, currently serving 30 families through a three-year partnership with the William Penn Foundation. This new initiative aims to empower children aged 4 to 21 by integrating structured and enriching arts programming into our existing welfare and educational services.<\/p>\n
Addressing a Critical Need:<\/p>\n
While we currently offer informal drawing opportunities, we lack a dedicated arts program, leaving a gap in the services we provide. This funding opportunity would enable us to develop a comprehensive program featuring art, dance, music, and trauma-informed care, specifically tailored to the needs of children facing challenging situations like parental loss due to gun violence, illness, or incarceration.<\/p>\n
Impact and Research-Based Approach:<\/p>\n
Research indicates that engaging in the arts can be therapeutic, promoting coping skills, emotional expression, and overall well-being. This resonates deeply with our mission, as we believe arts integration can significantly benefit the children we serve.<\/p>\n
