Project Title: African Girls Empowerment Program (AGEP)
\nProject Description:<\/p>\n
The African Girls Empowerment Program is an initiative that will bring robust programming for Life Skills and health Education to young African immigrant women in the greater Philadelphia area. Poverty, language, and immigration status creates health and education barriers for these young girls who desperately need access to these services. <\/p>\n
Dream Alive’s mission to strengthen individuals and families through compassionate social services, mental health interventions, and life-changing educational programs, building a more equitable and thriving community, strives to bridge gaps to enable accessibility to basic health care and education.
\nThrough this initiative, Dream Alive will provide:
\n– Nutrition Education through cooking classes, workshops, smoothie demonstrations and more!
\n-Financial Literacy workshops: partner with local financial institutions such as banks and credit unions to provide financial advice on opening accounts that will be beneficial to youth and young women
\n-Trades: partner with tradesmen and women in the community to train youth in various trades such as tailoring, electricity, plumbing, painting, carpentry, IT Technician, etc.
\n-Self-care and mental health support groups to enable young women to begin unpacking some of the trauma they encountered through their journeys to the U.S. and provide a safe space to share experiences.<\/p>\n
