Project Title: Project G.R.A.P.E. (Growing Readily Available Produce Everywhere)
\nProject Description:<\/p>\n
Our program, Project G.R.A.P.E., provides easy-to-understand education for our youth participants to allow them to connect biology, ecology and economic topics to the everyday functions of adult life. The purpose of the Project G.R.A.P.E. program is to teach youth in local communities how to grow produce in their community, how to live a well sustained life (educationally, physically and emotionally), and how to become a dedicated community member through leadership and volunteerism. In regards to our Project G.R.A.P.E. program, we utilize three core goals the program strives to accomplish: 1.) help 700 people in the Atlanta area and surrounding communities, 2.) teach 650 children the importance of gardening, and 3.) recover at least 300 pounds of produce.
\nProject G.R.A.P.E. provides education to youth participants through hands-on gardening activities and lessons based on: understanding where and how grocery stores attain produce, food technology, research areas related to food insecurity and its effects on BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) communities and low-income households, money management and creating a sustainable lifestyle with limited resources. <\/p>\n
