Until Charlie’s death, the Ternan’s had never heard of fentanyl. Now, their mission is to make sure that no other family is blindsided by that tragedy that is taking too many young people. Overdoses among teenagers have doubled over the last decade; many have taken fentanyl pills that they believed contained a different drug, like Xanax, Percocet or Oxycodone. Drug overdoses and poisonings are now the third leading cause of death in among youth, killing more kids in the U.S. than cancer, infections and drowning. SFC is dedicated to educating kids, parents, and caregivers about the risks of self-medication and drug experimentation in the deadly era of fentanyl. We are a family-led nonprofit focused on the nexus of mental health and the new chemical drug landscape ─and with an emphasis on youth and families─ we are doing extraordinary work to change the stigmatizing culture around stress and anxiety so that we can save young lives. We are ensuring families have both the knowledge to navigate adolescence safely AND the tools to empower them to make better choices. Parents and caregivers are among the most important people in the lives of young children. Our newest initiative is a family-oriented educational hub, The New Drug Talk: Connect to Protect (The New Drug Talk | Song for Charlie). This digital portal is a $5M initiative designed to empower families with the knowledge and resources to protect themselves and their loved ones by bringing the urgent conversation around mental health and chemical substance use into the home.

Total Project Budget: 1,000,000

Other Funding
Sources For The Project (Committed & Potential): SFC works to secure a diverse portfolio of both private and public funding sources including Foundations, Corporations and Individuals

Project Duration: ongoing
Geographical Area Served: nationally, we aim to reach every teen and family in every community
Age Group To Be Served: 12 year of age and above

Contact Information

Contact Prefix (Mr,Mrs etc.): Mrs
Contact First Name: Kaila
Contact Last Name: Sassano
Contact Title: Chief Development Officer
Contact Phone: 8658508625
Contact Email: ksassano@songforcharlie.org

Hermanowski Family Foundation Initial Request Form Organization Name: Song for Charlie Legal Name (if Different): Also Known As: Mailing Address: 530 South Lake Avenue, #632 City: Pasadena State: CA Postal Code: 91101 Main Phone: Main Fax: Organization Website: songforcharlie.org Employer ID Number: 85-1362612 Organization Tax Status: 501c3 Proposal Information Today’s Date: 2/6/24 Requested Amount: 10,000 […]

[3

post-4576","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-grants
["GET
