The "Every Kid Outdoors" Initiative, in its fourth year, serves as a hopeful response to the growing concerns of children spending excessive time in front of screens, contributing to the emergence of "Nature deficit disorder." With American children averaging five to eight hours daily on digital devices, the initiative aims to bridge the gap between children and the natural world.<\/p>\n
Project Impact 180, a pivotal component of this initiative, addresses the issue by providing non-digital alternatives and organizing monthly outdoor trips for groups of up to 25 youth. Recognizing the importance of reconnecting children with nature, these trips offer transformative experiences that extend beyond traditional digital engagements.<\/p>\n
The program embraces a diverse range of activities to engage the youth, including family nights, hiking, camping, creative writing, painting, rock climbing, kayaking, and whitewater rafting. By incorporating such a variety of outdoor experiences, Project Impact 180 aims to instill a sense of appreciation and understanding of the natural world, fostering a healthier balance between screen time and outdoor activities.<\/p>\n
In the face of the national crisis of children’s disconnection from nature, the "Every Kid Outdoors" Initiative, through Project Impact 180, strives to make a positive impact on the lives of youth by providing them with opportunities to explore, learn, and develop in the great outdoors.<\/p>\n
