Family Wellness Outreach Center of Georgia envisions a positive environment in which all youth are empowered in their holistic wellness. We are always cultivating and expanding opportunities for youth to make meaningful connections with themselves and communities. An innovative approach we are desiring to implement is an arts and wellness program in Dougherty County and other surrounding counties. Currently, Dougherty County has increasingly high rates in crime and gun violence. These adverse actions and behaviors affect the mental, emotional, and physical health of local youth. Currently, youth in Dougherty County experience a high rate of anxiety and depression. In an area that is already existing with poverty and low socioeconomic outcomes, additional exposure to unsafe conditions, instability, and insecurity creates barriers and limitations for youth to excel in their most optimal potential. With the proposed arts and wellness program, our goal is to provide positive outlets for youth to authentically express their perspectives and experience through creativity. <\/p>\n
