Asking for help requires courage! A diligent mother or father, working hard but still facing financial difficulties in sending their children back to school, deserves support. They should not experience shame or humiliation for needing extra help.<\/p>\n
Rays of Light Philanthropic serves as a feeder Non-Profit Organization (NPO) via partnerships with the following local organizations: Door of Hope, Inner Circle Foster Care, and Union Rescue Mission. Our aim is to improve the quality of life for homeless and foster children, youth and teens through the procurement and distribution of high-quality basic needs items. <\/p>\n
Annually, we host a Backpack Drive & Family Fun Fest event, a carnival style event with food, games, bounce houses, music & prizes. We distribute brand new, supply-filled backpacks to the children, youth, and teens in the care of our partners and local low-income students in need. However, in 2017 we expanded the scope of our initiative to include the distribution of new & gently used clothing and shoes. We enlisted the expertise of volunteer style coaches to ensure each student had a complete look to return to school. <\/p>\n
We believe basic need items instill hope, bolster confidence, build self-esteem that can translate to improved performance in the classroom. Students who excel academically are more likely to be valued contributors to our society and ultimately realize the value in helping others.\n<\/p>\n
