Yahalom Florida is a project of Agudath Israel of America, a national not-for-profit organization. We are currently in the initial launch stage of this program with the goal of creating a comprehensive referral center for children with special needs and disabilities. This project is modeled after successful Yahalom branches in other states. Within the special needs population, there is a tremendous gap between the programs and services available and those who would benefit from them. Parents spend thousands of dollars they can hardly afford on therapies, equipment or transportation, not knowing that it can be covered by state programs. Or worse, the children don\u2019t receive the services at all, due to lack of affordability and parents\u2019 awareness of the volunteered, free or subsidized services. Yahalom is there to bridge that gap, and connect families and caretakers of special needs children to resources that will allow them to thrive. We connect parents to community and state resources, guiding them through the (oftentimes bureaucratic and intimidating) processes and applications and we offer guidance on various schools, camps, therapies, and insurance policies that will best suit the specific needs of each individual. Additionally, Yahalom creates a community for the families of special needs children. Yahalom arranges sibshops for siblings of special needs children so they can enjoy a few hours of specialized attention. We also offer events for the parents, where they are given the opportunity to network and connect with other parents. The primary goal of Yahalom Florida is to centralize and streamline all forms of support for children with special needs and their families, so that parents can easily access and provide those services to their child, ultimately maximizing the quality of life of the special needs child and enabling them to achieve their greatest potential.\n<\/p>\n
