Project Title: Heart for the City Community Garden
\nProject Description:<\/p>\n
Providing a seed to plate program for kids living in poor communities. Our inner city communities have a %50 higher obesity rate than that of the suburbs. Our program teaches kids how to grow their own produce. Our Master gardener provides booklets for every participant that provides information on watering, type of soil, nutrients for plants and how to prepare the food. We partner with Title One Schools and use this program as a class. We also help the schools start a garden on their campus. The goal is to introduce kids to a healthy lifestyle of eating to bring down the obesity rate which will also reduce diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol later in life.<\/p>\n
