Cherry Children’s Music Outreach (CCMO) was established in 2005 to address inequity in music education for young children living in disadvantaged communities throughout Maryland and Washington DC. Our dynamic curriculum gets young children engaged with music, building their confidence and the skills necessary for learning and growing. Cherry Children’s Music Outreach respectfully requests the support of the Charles and Joan Hermanowski Family Foundation for the development and launch of a new music education video series for our partner centers serving low-income children. <\/p>\n
Our team is continually thinking of new strategies to enrich our classroom experiences and make our programs even more accessible and impactful for the young children that we serve. With our current structure and capacities, CCMO can only visit partner centers once per month to hold in-person classes. The Foundation’s investment will provide critical support for CCMO to curate a new researched-based music education video series, enabling over 1,500 children to have music education accessible to them all year long, even when CCMO is not conducting in-person classes. The video series will kick off in the fall and will feature themed music education content developed by experienced educators that engages the children through lessons organized around seasonal topics. This exciting new series will be made available in all 19 of our partner centers across five counties in Maryland and Washington DC and will run through the summer of 2024. The videos will serve as a supplemental tool for partner center teachers. CCMO will also share the videos with the children and their families for viewing outside of class time. As an additional component of the series, CCMO will create and publish two publicly available music education videos. These will be posted to CCMO\u2019s Youtube channel and will be accessible to hundreds of families nationwide.\n<\/p>\n
