Hello Hermanowski Foundation,<\/p>\n
I hope all is well with you. I am reaching out because I came across the foundation’s work, and was hoping we might be aligned – although we are not based in Florida.<\/p>\n
I founded and lead Grassroots Health, an innovative, youth-led organization that mobilizes college athletes to serve as volunteer health educators in schools. We currently operate in Washington, DC, and Philadelphia, reaching approximately 1,200 low-income and at-risk students per year. Our evaluations have shown our programs to be effective in increasing students’ mental health literacy, decreasing mental health stigma, and improving students’ access to mental health services.<\/p>\n
With mental health challenges for youth significantly increasing over the past 3 years, we have seen a higher demand for our programs than ever before, and we often have to tell schools that we do not have the capacity to bring our programming to them due to limited funding.<\/p>\n
I was hoping we might be able to apply for a $5,000 or $10,000 grant from the foundation to support our expansion to more schools on our waiting list.<\/p>\n
