Project Title: Free Family Art Labs
\nProject Description:<\/p>\n
The goal of this project is to increase equitable access to the arts through hands-on experiences at no cost to the community. With the additional Family Art Labs, we expect to impact more than 8,000 families in Lee County.<\/p>\n
Our intended audience is children and families living in traditionally underserved areas in Lee County. The selected locations of Pine Manor Community Center and Family Initiative will significantly improve our reach to communities that currently have limited access to the arts.<\/p>\n
We have a solid model for the Family Art Lab application as the Alliance for the Arts already hosts a free monthly art experience for families. We would be focusing funds on expanding those efforts into areas that have a need for more arts access.<\/p>\n
As part of our mission, we use the arts to help solve challenges through the arts in our community by expanding access and equity in the arts to underserved communities. The Alliance seeks support of $10,000 to fund 36 family friendly Art Labs at 3 locations across Lee County. That equates to a little over $8.00 for a family of four to experience the arts. We expect to serve 2,160 families this year (8640 individuals) tripling our current number of families served at our location. <\/p>\n
The program will have a welcoming \u201ccome for a little or a long time\u201d vibe. Families will be able to drop in during a 4 hour period, on a set day every month and experience a hands-on project, with light and fun educational components. Funding for this project will be broken up by month and expenditures will include arts supplies, teaching artist stipends, and marketing. Art makes a direct impact on communities and we are focusing on three primary areas: youth development and education, health and wellness, and neighborhood vitality. Please consider our request to make Fort Myers a more vibrant, healthy and connected community.<\/p>\n
