Project Title: YOUNG WARRIORS FOR TRANSPLANTS AND MENTAL HEALTH
\nProject Description:<\/p>\n
Approximately 2,000 children under 18 in the USA get transplants annually. Parents of children who are on the transplant list or have had transplants should ensure that their child is receiving the medical care required. Parents and children will need support from family, friends
\nand healthcare providers during and after this process. We at GOALFE understand the emotions that come with the process and how younger children may not fully understand what is happening to them as well as the parent\/guardian emotions may be off centered due to stress. GOALFE has developed a positive approach to ensure parents and children have the support readily available and accessible whenever it\u2019s needed.<\/p>\n
Our mental health program offers our children and their families peace of mind in a confidential environment.
\nThe GOALFE team consists of professionals with over 45 years of experience in mental health working with SAMSHA, under the leadership of Dr. H. Wesley Clarke, MD. JD, M.R.H., CAS. FSAM. during 2013. This includes peer to peer counseling and substance abuse. This program will be available for children in the community pre- and post-transplant. Each patient will be assessed and assigned a mental health provider for 1-2 hours per week (Individual and group settings).\n<\/p>\n

\nSources For The Project (Committed & Potential): Mental health therapy services, scheduler to set up appointments, rules and guidelines. Promote forum on social media, email and paid advertising. Hire grant writer and research developer to apply to organizations that provide free computers for this purpose and\/or research organizations that donate used computers for children.<\/p>\n
