In addition to instruction in world music and related cultural tie-ins, emphasis will be placed on the music as a means of self expression and a tool to support social emotional well being. Through a newly established instrument lending program, children will also have the opportunity to explore guitar, piano, ukulele, voice, or percussion during 1:1 individual lessons. Music instruction will be introduced in a manner that makes it accessible to a variety of learning styles, including students with auditory sensitivity and diagnosed learning disabilities. Roots believes access to high quality Music Education has numerous benefits including: the development of reasoning and language, improved coordination, emotional development, enhanced auditory skills, improved creative thinking, opportunities to learn teamwork, increased engagement in school and is committed to prioritizing music education in our programming. Outside of direct instruction, the Experiential Music Program will also support children in the production of a Winter and Spring gathering where they will have the opportunity to share their knowledge and most importantly, their joy, with their families. Outside of the many intellectual, psychological, and physical benefits of music education, Roots believes that fostering a sense of community support is perhaps one of the greatest indicators of future success.

Total Project Budget: $16,000

Other Funding
Sources For The Project (Committed & Potential): Annual Operating Budget supported by tuition ($6000 Committed)

Project Duration: One Year / Ongoing
Geographical Area Served: Southern Maine
Age Group To Be Served: 3 to 10 years old

Contact Information

Contact Prefix (Mr,Mrs etc.): Mrs
Contact First Name: Jaclyn
Contact Last Name: Gallo
Contact Title: Director of Elementary Education
Contact Phone: 7174807012
Contact Email: info@rootsatledgemere.com

Hermanowski Family Foundation Initial Request Form Organization Name: Roots Academy Legal Name (if Different): Tiny Seed Project, Inc.
