We offer this to children facing financial barriers at no cost to their families. We are the largest one-to-one, after school tutoring program offering consistent, long-term pairings of students and volunteers in the Chicagoland area.

Education is among the most important foundations for a child’s future success. Unfortunately for students from low income backgrounds, they lack access to equal educational opportunities often resulting in worse educational outcomes.

However, through the dedicated support of caring adults and equitable access to resources, these barriers can be reduced for children, promoting their development and future success.

Tutoring Chicago offers both digital and in-person tutoring options for over 1,000 students with the help of over 1,000 volunteer tutors. Our tutoring programs operate along the academic calendar from September through May, with the option of a summer extension.

Each student is matched with their own adult volunteer tutor for the school year, meeting 1-2 times a week for 1.5-3 hours of individualized instruction. Our curriculum and resources are carefully curated by our program staff composed of primarily former educators. Our trained and well-educated adult volunteers provide critical, supplemental education along with developmental experiences and positive relationships, for children in 1st through 9th grades.

Your grant funding will directly support the delivery of tutoring for Chicago students facing economic barriers.

Total Project Budget: 1,200,000

Other Funding
Sources For The Project (Committed & Potential): We have $900,000 in grants awarded currently for the 2022-23 fiscal year.
