In addition to exercises to improve flexibility and core strength, the children learn vital skills that enhance their fine and gross motor skills while having fun. Improvements in these areas often are a stepping stool for achievement in academic and cognitive function. The Victory Center strives to develop the independence, and physical skills to grant children with autism and behavioral challenges access to traditional sports instruction with age appropriate peers and thereby develop appropriate and lasting peer relationships, confidence, and competence. Research supports that sports, exercise, and other physical activities can lead to improvement in symptoms, behaviors, and quality of life for individuals with autism.

The ultimate goal for students with autism and behavior problems includes elimination of aggressive or negative behaviors. Students with motor delays can work toward improving muscle tone and basic physical education tasks such as catching and throwing a playground ball. Sports also give kids with disabilities confidence, improved socialization, an increase to the amount of oxygen to the brain, improved coordination, and even help with sleep. The Sports Therapy program provides experience the children would not otherwise have access to.

With the aid of our Sports Therapy Program, The Victory Center is confident that we can continue to achieve exceptional results and advancements.

Total Project Budget: $33,000

Other Funding
Sources For The Project (Committed & Potential):

Project Duration: Full Year
Geographical Area Served: Dade, Broward, Palm Beach
Age Group To Be Served: 3-22

Contact Information

Contact Prefix (Mr,Mrs etc.): Mrs.
Contact First Name: Pat
Contact Last Name: Rosen
Contact Title: Executive Director
Contact Phone: 305-466-1142 Ext 212
Contact Email: prosen@thevictoryschool.org

Hermanowski Family Foundation Initial Request Form Organization Name: The Victory Center Legal Name (if Different): Also Known As: The Victory School Mailing Address: 18900 NE 25th Ave City: State: FLORIDA Postal Code: 33180 Main Phone: 3054661142 Main Fax: 3054661143 Organization Website: www.victorycenterforautism.org Employer ID Number: 65-0968171 Organization Tax Status: Non-Profit- 501(c)(3) Proposal Information Today’s Date: […]

[3

post-142","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-grants
["GET
