Project Title: Music STEPS (Student Transformed Through Education & Performance Skills)
\nProject Description:<\/p>\n
The Florida Youth Orchestra (FYO) Music STEPS (Students Transformed through Education and Performance Skills) Program goal in 2022 \/ 2023 is to reach 400 children (125 \u2013 pre-school age and 275 \u2013 elementary age) at sites in two counties who would otherwise not have access to arts education.
\nChildren participating in our Music STEPS preschool classes range in age from 1 \u2013 5 years old.<\/p>\n
Participating elementary school children received up to 40 weeks of free after school music lessons once a week for a minimum of one hour. In addition, Music STEPS has been designed not only to increase capacity in music, but also to improve social and behavioral skills. Music STEPS students are selected based on their interest to join. On average, 20 – 35 students participate in each class based on the instrument (larger classes can occur for band and percussion).<\/p>\n
