Our trafficking preventive education program uses Power Over Predators, an evidence-based curriculum, designed for 6th-12th grade students. In presentations offered in large scale, classroom, small group, or virtual settings, students are given the tools to recognize trafficking attempts and understand the dangers of cyberbullying, internet pornography, and sexting. Topics such as healthy relationships and personal boundaries are also discussed. The curriculum also satisfies Child Internet Protection Act (CIPA) and Erin’s Law educational requirements. Preventive education presentations are held for public, Christian and charter middle and high schools, youth organizations, and church groups.
According to Polaris Project, nearly 65% of trafficking enticement efforts are initiated by family or intimate partners/marriage proposals. The 2020 Federal Human Trafficking Report indicates 89% of child victims in active 2020 criminal sex trafficking cases were between 14-17 years old. The Thorn Foundation Presentations found the average age of entry into commercial sexual exploitation is between 12-14 years old. Based on this information, our presentations strive to help students identify the behaviors, methods, and venues predators use to lure victims. Participants are also introduced to the parts of the brains responsible for impulsive behavior and differing characteristics of healthy and unhealthy relationships. The Power of Predators curriculum and preventive education equip students with the information necessary to make better relational choices and protect themselves from trafficking vulnerabilities.

Total Project Budget: $40,000

Other Funding
Sources For The Project (Committed & Potential): Laffey-McHugh, Matt Haley Foundation

Project Duration: Ongoing, entering year 3.
Geographical Area Served: Delaware and nearby counties in Maryland and Pennsylvania
Age Group To Be Served: Students in grades 6th-12th

Contact Information

Contact Prefix (Mr,Mrs etc.): Ms.
Contact First Name: Yolanda
Contact Last Name: Schlabach
Contact Title: Executive Director
Contact Phone: 302-745-1157
Contact Email: info@zoe-delaware.org

Hermanowski Family Foundation Initial Request Form Organization Name: Zoe Ministries, Inc.
