For every person in the US that dies from suicide, twice as many lives are lost in Utah. Good Deed Revolution is on a mission to create innovative media for mental health and suicide prevention to decrease suicides in Utah, end the stigma around mental health, and fill the need for new media resources that are not being created elsewhere.
\nOur media will help our community break down the mental health and suicide stigmas and start having conversations about what is happening. Ultimately, we hope to help reduce the suicide rate by 2%. By preventing just 2% of the suicide attempts we could save a total of 4,380 lives a year.
\nIn 2022, we will focus our efforts on the following projects
\n1. A 90-minute Comedy Show called \u2018Dying to Laugh\u2019: Comedy may seem an odd avenue, but studies have shown that laughter changes the brain by altering dopamine and serotonin activity, elevating moods. 75% of comedians struggle with depression. The show will highlight comedians who get real as they talk about depression in an entertaining and enlightening way.
\n2. Our Podcast & Video Series: will address mental health in an authentic, informative manner and will feature leading experts in the field, and guests with a first-hand experience. Stories can break down the stigma of talking about mental health needs and thoughts of suicide.
\n3. PSA Commercials: Young people often prefer to seek help from their peers. Who better to talk about teen suicide than teens themselves? The winners of a statewide competition for students will get a $1,000 scholarship in addition to their videos being broadcast on all major Utah TV stations and social media platforms.<\/p>\n
