BlazeSports is requesting $10,000 from the Hermanowski Family Foundation to support expansion of our BlazeTOTS program. BlazeTOTS is an early learning program that takes place in public schools and early learning centers with the goal of working with children in the early learning process to become healthier and more active. The overall goals of BlazeTOTS:<\/p>\n
Preschoolers With and Without Disabilities
\n\u2022\tIncrease participation in physical activity every day.
\n\u2022\tEstablish the foundation of health and wellness.
\n\u2022\tThrough sport improve the overall welfare of children with and without disabilities.<\/p>\n
Parents and Families
\n\u2022\tEducate parents about adaptive sport and physical activity opportunities.
\n\u2022\tIncreased knowledge of a healthy lifestyle
\nBecome advocates and promote the program to build awareness around the power of physical activity for all youth.<\/p>\n
The BlazeTOTS program aligns with the Hermanowski Family Foundation\u2019s priorities of improving the welfare of children, providing personal development, and recreational programs for youth in Metro Atlanta. Research shows that youth with or without disabilities who are physically active and engage in sports perform better in school, achieve greater independence and are more likely to become employed as adults.\n<\/p>\n

Other Funding
\nSources For The Project (Committed & Potential): Demand for the BlazeTOTS program far exceeds the budget for 2022 and BlazeSports will unfortunately have to turn away interested participants without receiving additional funds. Thus, the Hermanowski Family Foundation\u2019s additional funds will allow BlazeSports to deliver the BlazeTOTS program to more ready and willing participants. Fundraising results in 2021 for the BlazeTOTS program were approximately $70,000 from the Georgia Department of Public Health. <\/p>\n
