Our model of support is founded on community collaboration with businesses, social service agencies, churches, and healthcare providers for wrap-around support.

Working alongside school staff, RISE site coordinators identify struggling students in danger of failing or dropping out, assess their needs, and provide integrated support services utilizing appropriate community partnerships. Based on site coordinator and teacher assessments, RISE academic remediation tutors placed in the school provide intensive intervention with failing and/or at-risk students. Remediation tutoring in small group and individual settings is necessary to bring struggling students back to their grade level. Students are taken out of the classroom during school hours to meet with their tutor two to three times a week for hour-long sessions. Proven methods are used to find the source of student difficulties and bring them up to grade level in Math and Reading during remediation time. Tutors also serve as mentors as they build relationships with individual students through the school year. The site coordinator will also distribute wrap-around support as identified by tutors and teachers to mitigate nonacademic barriers to learning.

This grant can provide much-needed support that will allow us to move forward with our mission and continue impacting our at-risk students: $5,000 will go toward tutoring remediation costs; $2,500 will provide wrap-around services to vulnerable students.

Total Project Budget: $386,403.00

Other Funding
Sources For The Project (Committed & Potential): Committed: Comcast $10,000 Nutrien $6,000 Textron $5,000 Doctor’s Hospital $2,000 Community Foundation for the CSRA $15,000 St Joseph Foundation $15,000 United Way of the CSRA $18,124 Ramlose $2,000 Truist Bank (SunTrust) $43,500 Kroger Foundation $2,500 Mary Warren $7500 Pending: Bank of America Chatlos Foundation Vinea Foundation Harrisburg Literacy Foundation Mary Allen Lindsey Branan Foundation The following partners have provided books for free book fairs or for our “My Book Monthly” program: Book Tavern, Queensborough Bank, Lisa Libraries, Toys for Tots Literacy Foundation, Columbia County Chamber Leadership Class of 2023, Synovus Bank, T-Mobile, Augusta Junior Women’s Club, Regions Bank, 2nd & Charles and Scholastic.

Project Duration: August 2022 – May 2023
Geographical Area Served: Augusta, Georgia
Age Group To Be Served: Children ages 5 to 13

Contact Information

Contact Prefix (Mr,Mrs etc.): Ms
Contact First Name: Laurie
Contact Last Name: Cook
Contact Title: Executive Director
Contact Phone: 706-550-7716
Contact Email: lcook@riseaugusta.org

Hermanowski Family Foundation Initial Request Form Organization Name: RISE Augusta, Inc.
