Project Title: Healing Futures: Trauma\u2011Informed Support for Children and Youth in High\u2011Need Florida Communities
\nProject Description:<\/p>\n
More Than Foundation is a Florida\u2011based 501(c)(3) that heals trauma and breaks poverty cycles with community\u2011led solutions for children, youth, and families. Through our Healing Futures program, we provide trauma\u2011informed support and practical resources to children and youth up to age 21 in high\u2011need Florida communities, while training the adults closest to them in Mental Health First Aid (MHFA).<\/p>\n
With support from the Charles and Joan Hermanowski Family Foundation, we will provide one year of Healing Futures services focused on children and youth in Brevard County and nearby communities. The project will: 1) deliver healing\u2011centered groups, circles, and one\u2011on\u2011one support for children and youth coping with grief, violence, and family instability; 2) provide food, hygiene kits, clothing, and back\u2011to\u2011school supplies so basic needs do not block healing or schooling; and 3) train at least 10\u201315 parents, caregivers, and youth\u2011serving adults in MHFA, equipping them to recognize distress, respond safely, and connect children to help.<\/p>\n
Over the grant year, we expect to serve at least 50\u201375 children and youth up to age 21 with healing\u2011centered and wraparound support, while increasing the number of nearby, trusted adults who can support them at school, at home, and in the community. This project builds on our existing Healing Futures work, which has already certified 270 MHFA participants and served 1,300 youth across Florida by the end of 2025.<\/p>\n
