For over 65 years, BGCMR has offered youth a safe and supportive out-of-school environment. BGCMR delivers programs through five Clubs, a teen space, and a new state-of-the-art Teen & Community Center, strategically located in four different under-resourced neighborhoods: Richmond’s Northside, Southside, East End, and Petersburg. Through our consistent presence, youth develop the skills, social connections, and agency required to make positive decisions and stay on track. We strive to be an effective influence, ensuring youth are life-ready for college, technical training, military or gainful employment. Program offerings/learning opportunities are increasingly individualized and youth-led, enabling members to cultivate their voices for leadership and change. We are committed to providing more equitable access to extracurricular opportunities, ensuring physical and emotional safety for youth with adverse childhood experiences, and fostering strong relationships between youth and mentors. Our unique niche is our ability to impact young people over the long term, through a wide range of life stages. Though we are increasingly intentional about differentiating the services we provide to youth, teens and young adults, we believe that the key unmet need we are addressing occurs through the entire continuum of our services: the long-term, trusting and evolving relationships we are able to establish. We have historically seen 41% to 44% of members retained year over year, and are now re-engaging with alumni.

Total Project Budget: $4,538,496

Other Funding
Sources For The Project (Committed & Potential): $200,000 (Kenan Charitable Trust), $200,000 (Robins Foundation), $165,000 (United Way of Greater Richmond and Petersburg),

Project Duration: July 1, 2022 – June 30, 2023
Geographical Area Served: Metro Richmond
Age Group To Be Served: Our members are ages 6-18, we do also provide supplemental support to former members and member families

Contact Information

Contact Prefix (Mr,Mrs etc.): Ms.
Contact First Name: Amy
Contact Last Name: Atticks
Contact Title: Director of Development
Contact Phone: 2039159485
Contact Email: aatticks@bgcmr.org

Hermanowski Family Foundation Initial Request Form Organization Name: Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Richmond Legal Name (if Different): Also Known As: BGCMR Mailing Address: 100 Everett Street.
