Founded in 2005, HomePlate Youth Services is the only organization in Washington County dedicated solely to serving youth ages 12-24 experiencing homelessness and housing instability. Guided by our mission to uplift and empower young people through community building, education, and access to resources, HomePlate provides comprehensive, youth-centered services designed to meet immediate needs while supporting long-term stability and growth. At the core of our work is the Circle of Courage framework, rooted in research and Native philosophies of care, which emphasizes belonging, mastery, independence, and generosity. This approach shapes every aspect of our programming and reflects our philosophy of \u201cmeeting youth where they are.\u201d We recognize that before a young person can focus on employment, education, or housing goals, they must first feel safe, valued, and connected. HomePlate\u2019s Drop-In program serves as a trusted \u201chome base\u201d for youth navigating housing instability. Young people access essential resources including hot meals, showers, laundry facilities, clothing, hygiene supplies, healthcare connections, outreach support, and referrals to housing and community services. These basic needs are critical to helping youth stabilize physically and emotionally while reducing barriers to long-term success. Beyond immediate support, our drop-in centers create opportunities for healing, joy, and connection. Staff intentionally design programming that allows young people to experience community, creativity, and belonging despite the trauma and isolation often associated with homelessness. For many youth, HomePlate is one of the few consistent and affirming spaces in their lives. The need for youth homelessness services in Washington County continues to grow rapidly, far outpacing available resources. Through compassionate, relationship-centered care, HomePlate helps young people build resilience, strengthen self-determination, and create pathways toward stable housing and a brighter future where homelessness is temporary, not chronic.<\/p>\n
