NHC\u2019s Rapid Rehousing (RRH) program is a child-centered intervention designed to stabilize children and youth (ages 0\u201321) experiencing homelessness by quickly reconnecting their families to safe, permanent housing. Homelessness is a childhood disruption with lifelong consequences\u2014impacting education, health, and future economic stability. RRH addresses this critical period by minimizing the duration of homelessness and restoring stability when it matters most.
\nThrough rapid stabilization, RRH reduces children\u2019s exposure to unsafe environments and restores routine and predictability. By rehousing families quickly, NHC helps children remain in their school of origin, promoting school stability, and improving attendance and academic performance. Stable housing also contributes to reduced trauma and toxic stress, leading to stronger behavioral and mental health outcomes and increasing the likelihood of long-term self-sufficiency.
\nNHC\u2019s approach meets the developmental needs of children and youth at every stage. For children ages 0\u20135, the program supports early childhood stability and healthy development during formative years. For youth ages 6\u201317, RRH prioritizes school continuity and reduced absenteeism to support academic success. For young adults ages 18\u201321, the program focuses on preventing youth homelessness and supporting transitions to independence.
\nBy stabilizing families, NHC addresses the root of child and youth homelessness. Preventing family homelessness is the most effective way to ensure children can thrive. RRH not only provides housing\u2014it creates the foundation for lifelong stability, educational attainment, and well-being.
\nFunding for NHC\u2019s Rapid Rehousing program is critical to ensuring that children and youth experiencing homelessness can quickly regain stability during one of the most vulnerable periods of their lives. Without sufficient resources, families face prolonged homelessness, increasing children\u2019s exposure to trauma, school disruption, and long-term developmental harm. As demand continues to outpace available resources, additional funding is essential to reach more families before short-term crises become lifelong barriers.\n<\/p>\n
