Paper City Mentoring Project\u2019s (PCMP) Community-Based Mentorship Program is dedicated to empowering youth in rural Appalachian Ross County, Ohio by building meaningful, one-to-one relationships with caring adult mentors. In a region where young people often face barriers such as limited access to resources, transportation challenges, and economic hardship, PCMP provides consistent support, encouragement, and opportunity through mentorship rooted in connection and community.<\/p>\n
Our program thoughtfully matches youth with trained, background-checked adult mentors who commit to spending intentional time together each month. These mentor-mentee pairs engage in activities that reflect the young person\u2019s interests, whether that\u2019s exploring local parks, attending community events, working on school goals, or simply sharing a meal and conversation. Through these experiences, mentors help youth build confidence, develop life skills, and expand their vision for the future.<\/p>\n
What sets PCMP apart is our deep understanding of the unique strengths and challenges of Appalachian communities. We believe that mentorship is not a one-size-fits-all approach; it must be relational, flexible, and rooted in trust. Our staff provides ongoing support, training, and resources to ensure both mentors and mentees feel equipped and connected throughout their journey.<\/p>\n
At its core, PCMP\u2019s Community-Based Mentorship Program is about showing up, consistently and compassionately, for young people who need someone in their corner. By fostering positive relationships and creating a sense of belonging, we are helping youth discover their potential and equipping them to thrive in their schools, relationships, and communities. Through mentorship, we are building a stronger, more hopeful future for Ross County, one relationship at a time.<\/p>\n
