Project Title: Fearless Conversations to Prevent Youth Suicide
\nProject Description:<\/p>\n
The Liv Project\u2019s mission is to create innovative tools that spark fearless conversations, empowering families and communities to prevent youth suicide. The Project began work in 2021 in memory of Liv, a vibrant 19-year-old whose life was impacted by mental health challenges. After her passing, her family wanted to share her story to encourage open discussion about mental health and to remind others they are not alone in their struggles. The topic of suicide is often surrounded by fear, which can prevent people from seeking or offering help. By sharing their experience, The Liv Project hopes to inspire fearless conversations\u2013recognizing the fear but engaging anyway\u2013as these discussions can be life-saving. <\/p>\n
The Liv Project is building a movement that uses art, engagement, and fearless conversations to challenge the silence and break the stigma and has engaged with youth and mental health professionals to ensure tools are age-appropriate, sensitive to youth mental health challenges, and appealing to young people across a wide spectrum. The Project developed THE GAME THAT GOES THERE\u00ae, a fun conversation game that promotes connection and empathy as it prompts players to openly share and go THERE\u2013to the feelings and thoughts many would rather not share\u2013with the idea that the more people go there, the less scary and stigmatized it becomes. Using THE GAME THAT GOES THERE\u00ae cards as prompts, The Liv Project designs custom CREATIVE WORKSHOPS where participants interact and build meaningful connections while creating art. Connection to others through this creative outlet establishes a strong foundation for overall well-being, acting as a protective factor against negative health outcomes like mental health issues and substance use, and promoting resilience, social-emotional skills, and academic success. The Liv Project is working to empower youth to build healthier, more connected lives and ultimately reduce the occurrence of youth suicide. <\/p>\n
