We are asking for support to reimagine our long-standing Education Center, transforming it into a flexible, technology-enabled learning hub that expands access to immersive educational experiences for children and young adults. Since opening in 2004, the Center has served as a cornerstone of community learning; however, it has not undergone a major update in more than two decades. It no longer reflects modern educational practices, technological needs, or sensory-responsive design necessary to serve diverse learners.
The proposed renovation will introduce flexible seating, updated infrastructure, and interactive smart board technology to support inquiry-based, collaborative learning. These tools will allow educators and students to engage with content in dynamic ways, including real-time annotation, group collaboration, and adaptable learning environments that accommodate a wide range of learning styles and needs.
Our education team has built a reputation of excellence and trust. Each year, the Frazier engages more than 30,000 students through field trips, camps, homeschool programs, and community initiatives. Nearly one-third of these students attend at no cost through the museum’s Educational Access Fund. For many young people, the Frazier provides their first meaningful encounter with history, arts, and culture.
The renovated space will also integrate with the museum’s American Pearl exhibition, highlighting Louisville native and explorer Tori Murden McClure’s historic solo transatlantic row. Through hands-on activities focused on engineering, navigation, endurance, and problem-solving, students will explore real-world STEM concepts while engaging with an inspiring story of perseverance and achievement.
By creating a modern, inclusive learning environment, the Frazier will provide children and young adults with the tools, inspiration, and educational experiences needed to succeed and reach their full potential.

Total Project Budget: $175,000

Other Funding
Sources For The Project (Committed & Potential): Stock Yards Bank – committed; James Graham Brown Foundation – potential/match; Gheens Foundation – potential; Kosair for Kids – potential; City of Louisville – potential; LG&E – Committed

Project Duration: 1 year
Geographical Area Served: Kentucky and Indiana
Age Group To Be Served: K-12 students and teachers

Contact Information

Contact Prefix (Mr,Mrs etc.): Mrs.
Contact First Name: Rachel
Contact Last Name: Platt
Contact Title: Vice President of Mission
Contact Phone: 502-753-1039
Contact Email: rplatt@fraziermuseum.org

Hermanowski Family Foundation Initial Request Form Organization Name: The Frazier Kentucky History Museum Legal Name (if Different): Owsley Brown Frazier Historical Arms Museum Foundation Also Known As: The Frazier History Museum Mailing Address: 829 W.
