Serving approximately 400 households weekly, the program directly supports children from birth through age 21 who are disproportionately impacted by food insecurity due to low household income, seasonal employment, and rising living costs.

Designed to address the full spectrum of a child’s well-being, the program goes beyond food access by integrating elements of health, education, and family stability. Each market operates using a client-choice model, allowing families to select fresh produce and pantry staples that meet their cultural and dietary needs—promoting healthier eating habits and supporting child development.

In alignment with the foundation’s priorities, Sprout Up embeds enrichment opportunities into its weekly distributions. Children and youth benefit from on-site nutrition education, hands-on learning experiences, and social-emotional wellness activities that reinforce positive behaviors and long-term health outcomes. Families are also connected to critical health and welfare resources, including access to community health partners, mental wellness support, and referrals to educational and social services.

By meeting families where they are, in trusted and accessible community locations, Sprout Up reduces barriers to essential resources while creating safe, supportive environments for children to thrive. The Weekly Community Markets serve as a critical touchpoint for improving child health, strengthening family stability, and advancing equitable outcomes in underserved communities.

Total Project Budget: $150,000

Other Funding
Sources For The Project (Committed & Potential): Florida Blue Foundation, The Miami Foundation, Sprouts Market

Project Duration: November 1, 2026 – October 31, 2027
Geographical Area Served: Homestead and Florida City, Florida
Age Group To Be Served: 0 months and up

Contact Information

Contact Prefix (Mr,Mrs etc.): Mrs.
Contact First Name: Natalie
Contact Last Name: Rowe
Contact Title: Executive Director
Contact Phone: 3057760741
Contact Email: natalie@sproutingup.org

Hermanowski Family Foundation Initial Request Form Organization Name: Sprout Up, Inc.
