Through a network of trained Site Coordinators embedded within high-need schools across Southeastern Virginia, CISofHR provides integrated student supports that address both academic and non-academic challenges affecting student success.

Many of the students served by CISofHR face obstacles such as food insecurity, housing instability, mental health challenges, and limited access to academic resources. When these basic needs go unmet, students are more likely to disengage from school and fall behind academically. CISofHR works alongside school staff, families, and community partners to identify these barriers and connect students to the services and resources they need to succeed.

Funding from the Charles and Joan Hermanowski Family Foundation would support CISofHR student success programming that helps young people remain engaged in school and build confidence in their ability to achieve their goals. Support may include mentoring, academic assistance, access to basic needs resources, and enrichment opportunities that promote student growth and well-being.

By surrounding students with a coordinated system of support, Communities In Schools of Hampton Roads helps ensure that young people have the tools, encouragement, and resources necessary to stay in school and reach their full potential.

Total Project Budget: 78100

Other Funding
Sources For The Project (Committed & Potential): Board member support (committed), individual donor support (commited), community foundation support (committed), Additional grant support (potential)

Project Duration: August, 21st 2026 – June 11th 2027
Geographical Area Served: Suffolk, Virginia
Age Group To Be Served: k-12

Contact Information

Contact Prefix (Mr,Mrs etc.): Mrs
Contact First Name: Lora
Contact Last Name: Fara
Contact Title: Development Coordinator
Contact Phone: 7573342315
Contact Email: development2@cisofhamptonroads.org

Hermanowski Family Foundation Initial Request Form Organization Name: Communities In Schools of Hampton Roads Legal Name (if Different): Communities In Schools of Hampton Roads Also Known As: CISofHR Mailing Address: 200 High Street, Suite 308 City: Portsmouth State: Virginia Postal Code: 23704 Main Phone: 7573342315 Main Fax: Organization Website: https://cisofhamptonroads.org/ Employer ID Number: 26-2504678 Organization […]

[3

post-10135","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-grants
["GET
