Our mission is to fuel the boundless potential of young people and ensure they are prepared for life and career success. We provide no-cost, year-round out-of-school time programming for youth ages 11–24, focused on academic support, social-emotional development, and workforce readiness.

This request supports summer field trips connected to our Life & Career Pathways (LCP) program. LCP is guided by our 4E framework: Exposure, Exploration, Experience, and Engagement. Youth are first exposed to new ideas and career possibilities, then explore their interests through hands-on activities, gain experience through applied learning and mentorship, and remain engaged as they set goals and plan next steps. Through project-based learning, guest speakers, and career-focused activities, participants build communication, teamwork, leadership, and goal-setting skills.

Our nine-week summer program will serve approximately 400 youth across Richmond and Petersburg, with a strong emphasis on the Exposure and Exploration phases of the 4E framework. Programming is designed to broaden horizons, introduce youth to new environments, and connect their daily engagement to long-term aspirations.

Incentives have proven to be an effective strategy for increasing engagement in our programs. When offered in the past, they have consistently improved participation in academic and career-focused activities, encouraging youth to stay involved throughout the summer. Because of this success, we are seeking to expand these opportunities so more youth can benefit from the motivation and recognition they provide. End-of-program trips also create a chance to celebrate participants’ efforts and achievements, giving young people a strong sense of accomplishment and a meaningful way to close out the program.

We are requesting $10,000 to fund field trips that serve as incentives for strong attendance and meaningful participation. Youth will work toward equitable engagement benchmarks tied to the LCP roadmap, and our goal is for 100% of participants to earn the opportunity to attend one end-of-summer trip. We plan to offer up to five destination options, including regional attractions such as Kings Dominion or Busch Gardens.

Total Project Budget: $40,000

Other Funding
Sources For The Project (Committed & Potential): A portion of the organization’s $2 million annual LCP program budget will support this effort. However, because this project represents an enhancement to the current program, additional support will be sought from foundations, corporate partners, and individual donors to fully implement the expanded activities

Project Duration: Nine weeks
Geographical Area Served: Petersburg and Richmond, VA
Age Group To Be Served: 11-24

Contact Information

Contact Prefix (Mr,Mrs etc.): Ms
Contact First Name: Katie
Contact Last Name: Rhodes
Contact Title: VP of Advancement
Contact Phone: (804) 359-5250
Contact Email: development@bgcmr.org

Hermanowski Family Foundation Initial Request Form Organization Name: Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Richmond Legal Name (if Different): Also Known As: BGCMR Mailing Address: 100 Everett St, Suite 1 City: Richmond State: VA Postal Code: 23224 Main Phone: 804-359-5250 Main Fax: Organization Website: https://www.bgcmr.org/ Employer ID Number: 54-0564901 Organization Tax Status: Non-Profit, 501(C)3 Proposal […]

[3

post-10082","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-grants
["GET
