Project Title: Access, Belonging, and Opportunity for Every Girl
\nProject Description:<\/p>\n
This proposal seeks funding to provide program scholarships and translation services that remove financial and language barriers to participation in Girls on the Run of Dayton programming. This support will ensure that girls of all backgrounds and abilities across our five-county region can access a program that builds confidence, promotes healthy habits, and strengthens social-emotional skills.<\/p>\n
Girls on the Run of Dayton serves girls in grades 3\u20138 across Clark, Greene, Miami, Montgomery, and Preble counties through an evidence-based curriculum that combines physical activity with lessons focused on confidence, decision-making, empathy, and healthy relationships. Participants meet twice per week in small teams led by trained volunteer coaches, building skills that support emotional well-being, leadership, and positive peer connections. Each season concludes with a celebratory community 5K event that reinforces goal-setting, perseverance, and teamwork.<\/p>\n
However, financial constraints and language barriers can prevent many girls and families from fully participating. Scholarships ensure that program fees do not limit access for girls from families facing financial hardship. Translation services allow families with limited English proficiency to fully engage with program materials, registration, and communication from coaches and staff. These services also support the translation of the program\u2019s \u201cGrown-Up Guide,\u201d which helps caregivers reinforce social-emotional learning themes and healthy habits at home.<\/p>\n
With this support, Girls on the Run of Dayton will serve approximately 1,100 girls annually, with a strong focus on increasing access for underserved families. At least 90% of participants report increased confidence, a stronger sense of belonging, and improved peer relationships through post-program surveys.<\/p>\n
By removing financial and language barriers, this project will ensure that more girls across our region can benefit from programming that strengthens resilience, promotes physical activity, and equips them with skills that support success in school, relationships, and throughout their lives.<\/p>\n
